Founded in 1738, in the first half of the 18th century, Quinta do Porto Nogueira was always owned by the same family until the 20th century. The current owners acquired it in the beginning of this century. For centuries, the main crop at Quinta do Porto Nogueira was vines, now restored and planted in their original terroirs, around the Countryhouse and the Cellar.

The Vineyards
Our vineyards produce in clayey soils, with a natural freshness and salinity, without irrigation, uniques, marked by the influence of a natural microclimate at the foot of the Serra de Todo-o-Mundo (“All-the-World Mountain”) and by the proximity to the Atlantic sea, which is 20 km away. In the approximately 20 hectares of vineyards at Quinta do Porto Nogueira - with DOC Óbidos classification - each parcel of vineyard is treated and valued as unique and different, and all our wines are produced with the pleasure and well-being of those who enjoy them.
White Grapes planted: Arinto, Alvarinho, Encruzado, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay

Choosing Every Grape
When harvesting and afterwards in the cellar, we adopted a rigorous Grape Selection Process that we use to produce all of our wines. It is an organized process of successive sorting that assures us the selection of the best grapes: pre-harvested grapes, bunches selection while harvesting and in the cellar, and final selection of berries on the table. In the fruit we use there are no greens, rotten, insects nor rubbish.
Only the best selected fruit is used in our wine making process.

The Cellar
The white grapes, after being pressed, are ferment in small vats. The white wines are aged in French or American oak barrels, under fine lees, with batonnage.
The red grapes are gently treaded and macerated in wine presses and fermented in small vats. Subsequently, the red wines are aged in French and/or American oak barrels, from the renowned Séguin Moreau and JM Gonçalves cooperages.
We only vinify our own grapes.
